The University of Chicago has a distinctive and distinguished
tradition of interdisciplinary research and teaching. Faculty and students
with interests that span departmental lines are readily able to find colleagues
throughout the University.
The many interdivisional programs that flourish at the University vary
widely in purpose and organization. Some are formal, degree-granting committees,
some are Area Studies Centers, some are comparatively informal groupings
of faculty and advanced students who share an interest in some method,
approach, or subject area.
